A Blast From the Past
In honor of this weeks holiday... here is a story we did a couple of years ago. Ghost storeis from Clara Thompson Hall on the campus of Drury University.
Times have certainly changed.
The interview in this story looks hazy because we shot exteriros first.. and it was VERY cold outside, and warm and humid inside.

This was taken from Caboose Junction on Table Rock Lake.
This picture was taken with a crappy point and shoot Kodak I got at Wal-Mart. ($15 in 1992 money!)
I was hoping for some lens flare, and after three exposures I got it. Didn't know till two months later when the film was developed.

Why does our government tolerate this?
Border patrol agent held at gunpoint
For that matter ... why does the Mexican government tolerate this?It is UNACCEPTABLE for armed people wearing the uniforms of the Mexican military to cross our border and interfere with operations of our law enforcement and border patrol.
You would think it would be in the best interest of Mexico to at least PRETEND to try and deal with this problem.
And, why is the US government providing proper support for our agents ... I don't really think it would take much ... a couple of A-10s or and Apache or two. That might be all you would need. A hummer wouldn't fare very well against either aircraft.

Best Foul Ball EVER!!!!!!!
THe first year of Hammons Field I was sent to shoot a baseball game between the SMS Bears and Evansville.
A foul ball was hit that went up and over the safety net behind home plate and landed in a bag I kept under my tripod.
This is edited video from the sports archive. I wish I would have saved the Raw ... live and learn.
I did make stills fromt he TWO frames that show the baseball before it lands in my bag.
The video IS edited, but the edits only shortened the experience.

My DTV Coupon Experience
Well ... a couple of months ago I went to www.dtv2009.gov and requested my coupon toward $40 dollars off a DTV Converter Box.
My coupon finally arrived on Friday. I had to go to work, so I waited to cash it in.
Saturday, I had some time before going to work, so I went to Wal-Mart. I take my choice of boxes to the register and try to cash in, and join the Digital TV age.
BUT, the coupon was DENIED.
I was crushed ... well ... disappointed.
I called the customer service number set up by the government 1-888-DTV-2009 and get nowhere because the call volume is so high.
I called again this morning. The lady on the other end tells me that there have been some problems with the coupons, some have taken a while to activate. She said that I should go ahead and try again.
So, I again went to Wal-Mart. And this time it worked.
I purchased the RCA DTA800. Mostly because it had channel buttons on the front AND a universal remote that would control the box and my TV.
Over all, I can say that I'm pleased. I'm running off rabbit ears and the local channels have never looked better in my kitchen.
My little 13" Magnivox is useful till it dies.

Larry Norman, 4/8/48 - 2/24/08
According to a posting on his website, Larry Norman passed away yesterday morning.
Most people (fans of christian music or otherwise) have never heard of Larry Norman.
If you are a fan of Christian Music there is a chance that you'd heard his music being recorded by other artists, DC Talk, Dana Key, Steve Camp are some that come to mind.
He is one of the first people to record what can be considered Christian rock. He was often called the "Father of Chrisitan Rock" and sometimes the "Grandfather" of Christian rock.
Whatever you call him, he was one of the founders of the Jesus movement of the late '60's early 70's. He helped lay the foundation for what people call Christian music today.
The following video was posted to You Tube on Saturday, it is Mr Norman greeting his fans from the hospital.
Here are some other website if you would like more info:

So today I had a new wrench thrown into my life.
Right now KOLR/KSFX is between weekend sports anchors.
Dan Lucy is the TV color commentator for the MSU Bears basketball games.
Since MSU was on the road this weekend, that left us with no anchor. No problem ... we'll just throw some highlites together, and have the news anchor read them.
I got the job of logging the game and editing the high lites and post game that Dan was to send after the game.
One problem. Mediacom was sending a digital feed, and we always seem to have trouble tuning digital feeds on the weekend. Consequently, I didn't get to log the game because I was trying to help Master Control figure out the problem.
Eventually we got one signal with an excellent picture ... but no sound.
We got another signal with excellent sound, but a completely unusable picture.
So, I recorded both feeds and managed to sync the picture to the sound(for post game). Our Avid system made this part relatively easy ... I just wish I could've been able to enjoy the experience. Mostly ... I just felt like crap afterwards.

A Brad Pitt MUSEUM?????
Apparently SPRINGFIELD was planning a Brad Pitt museum! Well, not really ... but judging from the nearly 40 stories I saw on the internet ... it was a done deal.
This story Pitt Museum Planned for Star's Hometown on Hollywood.com(Posted on January 7) started it all:
Susan Wade, head of PR for the town, says, "Springfield is very Midwestern and family oriented. We're glad to have Brad as part of our history and culture. In fact, we need a Brad Pitt Museum."
And should have ended here on Radar(Posted on January 7 at 3:30pm) Brad Pitt Museum Dreams Demolished:
according to Springfield, Missouri, PR manager Susan Wade, "It's not true."
So, someone sees the first story, and the rumor goes world wide. Websites in Scotland and China print variations of the first post. Susan Wade even has her gender changed in one story. Reporters even ask Don Cheadle and George Clooney for comment at the Broadcast Film Critics Awards.
Now, I KNOW that I'm an idiot ... but how does "we need a Brad Pitt museum" become "Pitt Museum Planned"? Is it just the fact that headline writers are idiots and these other websites ONLY look at headlines?
Don't you think that SOMEONE in the Springfield media would have found out and leaked that before Hollywood.com? Didn't ANY of these people find it odd that NO Springfield news source appeared on a Google search of the topic?
So even tho some sensible websites destroyed the story on Monday ... I just saw that a site from the UK posted the story 9 hours ago.
Well ... I'm done rambling. This is quite possibly the most I have EVER thought about Brad Pitt in my life!
Just for clarity, Susan Wade is the spokesperson for the Springfield, Missouri, Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Public Information Officer for the City of Springfield is Louise Whall.
